Busy Bees Music Group along with the St Helen’s Baby and Toddler Group in Abingdon, Oxfordshire

held a Sing-athon

on the afternoon of Sunday 8th June 2008 in Abingdon

and raised £374 for the

Milton Margai Blind School in Sierra Leone

(reg. Charity no. 1103408)

(This total will increase once Gift Aid is added.)

Thank you to everyone who contributed, and to all the parents and children who came. We had a great time singing all our favourite songs, playing the instruments and eating the cakes. The song that had the most money voted for it was (of course) ‘Sleepy Bunnies’ but we also did a good rendition of ‘Kookaburra’ in parts, and lots and lots and lots of knee-bouncing songs. (Sorry folks, but you did vote for them!)  Thank you again.

The Milton Margai School for the Blind caters for around 80 children in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. It developed a strong musical tradition under the leadership of its former headmaster, Sam Campbell, himself blind and a noted musician and composer. The School Choir is regarded as one of the finest in the whole of Sierra Leone and in 2003 and again in 2007 the choir toured the UK giving numerous concerts.

a CD and DVD of their performance is available
